Dear friends, hear this word from our friend St. Paul: the Christian churches in Judea "only heard a report about me: "the man who used to harass us now preaches the faith that he once tried to destroy."" This Sunday at 10:30, we gather to hear the good news of that same grace that can transform our lives in the same way, today. We'd love for you to join us!
This Sunday, we'll be joining churches across our Annual Conference in a new series, Galatians: Gospel of Grace. Check out this short video from our Bishop introducing the theme for this week: Grace That Transforms. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=9&v=TKfpyTTAMjw
Good morning friends, and happy Easter season! We will be starting a new worship series this Sunday - Galatians: Gospel of Grace - to hear again about the transforming grace of God through Paul's letter to the churches in Galatia. We want this series to be more than a Sunday-only experience. Check out this link to sign up for a GREAT daily study guide sent out every morning to help us all study Galatians on our own and bring our learnings together each Sunday of this series. https://www.transformingmission.org/bible/galatians/
He is risen!
Join us Today as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! 6:30am outside by the shelter house and 10:30 am for traditional worship indoors.
From an ancient Homily for today, Holy Saturday, when Jesus laid in the tomb, dead: “What is happening? Today there is a great silence over the earth, a great silence, and stillness, a great silence because the king sleeps; the earth was in terror and was still, because God slept in the flesh and raised up those who were sleeping from the ages. God has died in the flesh, and the underworld has trembled.”
A reading for Good Friday evening: After Jesus’ crucifixion and death, a man named Joseph “went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Taking it down, he wrapped it in a linen cloth and laid it in a tomb carved out of the rock, in which no one had ever been buried.” (Luke 23:52-53)
We gather to worship at 7pm tonight. For us and for our salvation, Jesus was crucified and died. Let us gather and remember together tonight.
A reading for today, Good Friday: “It was now about noon, and darkness covered the whole earth until about 3:00, while the sun stopped shining. Then the curtain in the sanctuary tore down the middle. Crying out in a loud voice, Jesus said “Father, into your hands I entrust my life.” After he said this, he breathed for the last time.” (Luke 23:44-46)
From the readings for today, Maundy Thursday: To his disciples, Jesus said “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)
From the readings for Holy Wednesday: “The Lord God had opened my ear, and I was not rebellious, I did not turn backward. I gave my back to those who struck me, and my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from insult and spitting. The Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefore I have set my face like flint, and I know that I shall not be put to shame.” (Isaiah 50:5-7)
From the readings for Holy Tuesday: “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” (John 12:23-25)
From the readings for Holy Monday: Here is my Servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations. He will not cry or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street; a bruised Reed he will not break, and a dimly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice.” (Isaiah 43:1-3)
